I have an 86 Pontiac Fiero 2M4 and the engine is nearing the end of its days. I know the most common engine swap for Fieros is the 3800 series II engine but I would like to keep a 4 cylinder in the car due to the price of gas. Now what i would like to

A bigger engine doesn't need to use more gas. How efficient it is does more. Unless you floor it a lot, you are only using engough energy to move the car, just a lower percentage of what the engine can do.
