I have a Peugeot 405 1.8L and whenever i switch on the A/C, the engine loses so much tractability. Although the A/C works well and the engine running cold but the loss of tractability is annoying. As i have seen almost all French cars have this problem
Personally, I would turn off the A/C and open the windows. But otherwise you need to increase the horsepower of the engine. I think your dealing with the basic laws of physics that says you can't get something from nothing. Maybe an engine to A/C belt
